Ways to Give

By Briar Boyce, senior development officer

For more than 38 years, the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation (PECMHF) has been the voice of our community hospital. The foundation helps to advance the hospital’s primary role in our community, which is to provide exceptional health care.

The foundation was established to accept funds donated to Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital to ensure they would be protected and available for hospital needs now and in the future. Without the foundation raising money, the hospital could not stay current with the evolving technology and systems that shape modern medicine.

Since its incorporation in 1985, PECMHF has helped donors to make a difference at Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital.

Funding equipment and building our new hospital are our current priorities. Making this happen is not possible without donor support. In the current economic environment, we are challenged to raise funds for our Care Champions to continue to provide safe, high-quality services to the hospital's patients. Community support is crucial to such access and the fulfillment of our mission.

Prince Edward County may not be very large, but the generosity is exceptional. You can make our community a healthier place to live by giving a gift to our hospital.

We all have different reasons to give, and there are many ways you can choose to help improve healthcare in our community. Donations give the Care Champions working in our hospital the vital tools they need to provide care to every patient that comes through our doors. Having the right equipment in the right hands means that patient care remains first-rate at our hospital.

There are many ways to make a meaningful gift. Below are a few ways you can make a gift today.

In-person – Visit us at 403 Main Street, Picton and make your gift. We would appreciate you booking a time to see us by calling 613-476-1008 ext. 4507.

Online - Visit pecmhf.ca to make a one-time donation, sign up to be a monthly donor, honour, or remember a loved one through a special tribute.

Monthly Giving - Be a champion of health care all year long! Monthly giving is the most effective way to provide sustaining support and ensure the greatest possible impact from your donation.

Commemorative Giving – Tribute and memorial gifts are an enduring legacy for our County hospital and an easy way to let someone know you’re thinking of them.

Care Champion - Thank the people who went above and beyond with a donation in their name. Everyone working in our hospital is a Care Champion. Your nurse, doctor, or caregiver will be recognized with a special certificate and personalized card.

Planned Giving – When you leave a gift in your will to PECMHF, you play a vital role in the future of our community.

Gifts of Securities – Giving securities to PECMHF is a great way to support leading-edge patient care while saving on taxes.

Events – You can contribute to PECMHF’s ongoing financial goals by hosting an event, donating proceeds from an event, or simply attending an event that has named the foundation as the recipient of proceeds.

Donate a Car Canada – NEW – Working on our behalf, Donate a Car will accept your vehicle for donation and turn it into generous dollars for PECMHF at no cost to you.

Name a Room – We proudly offer many unique naming opportunities in the new hospital to donors who pledge $50,000 or more to our Back the Build campaign.

If none of the options above suit your lifestyle, our team will work with you to help you make a gift that is meaningful to you. We enjoy working 1:1 with our donors and would love to hear from you.

As a side note, Remembrance Day is fast approaching. Our local Legion branches are essential partners to our foundation. I hope you remember to wear a poppy and give what you can to the poppy fund. PECMHF has received over $141,000 in equipment funding in the last decade, mainly through poppy sales from our local Legion branches. We are so grateful.

The foundation is indebted to all donors who make it possible for our hospital to deliver the best care in our community. Together, we can all access high-quality healthcare close to home.

For information about our hospital or to donate, call 613-476-1008 ext. 4502 or visit our website at www.pecmhf.ca.

“Last year (2023), we had the best crop yields since moving to The County in 2004. Barbara and I wanted to share our gratitude over such a great harvest and couldn’t think of a better way to do so than to donate to a cause benefitting all…building a new hospital,” said Hunter.
