Making Spirits Bright for our County Hospital

PICTON, December 19, 2023 - Spirits were bright at Wellings of Picton as their members presented the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation (PECMHF) with a holiday gift of $4,775.00 and counting.

The funds were raised through two events hosted by Wellings of Picton. The first was an online auction that took place from November 17 to December 4, with proceeds supporting PECMHF’s Back the Build campaign. Over 55 items were available to bid on, which lifted the spirits of the new hospital campaign.

The second event showcased a Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, November 25, in the atrium of Wellings of Picton. Approximately 20 vendors sold their wares. Notably, the popular white elephant table raised $1,400.00 towards the overall result.

Tracey Cronkright, general manager of Wellings of Picton, sincerely thanks the community for supporting both their online auction and the bazaar and extends heartfelt gratitude to the members who helped organize these festive fundraisers. The community at Wellings of Picton remains committed to supporting the new Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital build.

“Working with our members who have spent countless hours organizing these holiday events is always wonderful. A big thanks to our committee members and all the local vendors and businesses who have contributed time, set up a table or donated an auction item to make our efforts a success,” said Cronkright. “I also want to recognize the team at Wellings of Picton who helped ensure our attendees had a safe and enjoyable shopping experience.”

“The members group and vendors that came together from Wellings to continue to support our County hospital and the building of our new hospital speaks to the importance of community involvement and the impact it has on the quality of life for those residents and visitors to our County,” said Shannon Coull, executive director of the PECMH Foundation. “We are so grateful for the generosity shown to us by our friends living at Wellings who continue to creatively and passionately invest in the future of health care delivery at Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital.”

The Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation is a charitable organization whose mission is to raise money to advance health care for the people of Prince Edward County and the patients of the hospital.

“Last year (2023), we had the best crop yields since moving to The County in 2004. Barbara and I wanted to share our gratitude over such a great harvest and couldn’t think of a better way to do so than to donate to a cause benefitting all…building a new hospital,” said Hunter.
